Our Story

C&O Bicycle is a charming family-owned shop that was purchased by Jimmy and Tracy Barnhart in November 2015. The couple also operates Barnhart's Lawn & Garden, an authorized Husqvarna  dealership that shares a space with the bike shop.

The area between mile 10.5 of the beautiful paved Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT) and mile 124.5 of the C&O Canal towpath provides the perfect location for what has become an essential stop for many people traveling through the area. Besides being home to office pup, Leroy, and offering a variety of services and eclectic accommodations, C&O Bicycle is unique in many ways. Think of the shop as your own personal C&O Canal/ WMRT Visitor's Center. Our crew loves our visitors, and we provide everything from rentals, shuttle services, the best branded gear, snacks and energy drinks to refuel, emergency repairs, and free advice, literature and stories on how to experience this beautiful area. Our relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff are sure to make your adventure a fun and easy ride.
